What is the best deal you could get on a flight from Omaha to the New York City area?
I would like to propose the idea of my flying by myself possibly with my sister to New York instead of driving for two days with my parents. I really hate making the road trip from Nebraska to New York with a passion, but we're not flying this year so we have extra money to stay at a resort. Anyway, possible airports I could consider are New York JFK and LGA, Newark, Hartford, Newburgh, NY, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Ideal prices would be in the mid $300 range per person, and no more than $400. The travel dates aren't for sure yet, but it will be in late June through early July for two weeks. I don't care if it's nonstop or if it has two connections. I just need the cheapest flight. So far I'm getting around $388 on Orbitz with Delta from OMA to LGA. Are there any better prices? BTW AirTran was offering tickets for $376 yesterday but that fare has gone up.

June and July are expensive times to fly as that is considered peak travel times. I would see how much tickets cost on Frontier. Southwest is another option as they now fly into the New York area. Also check out http://www.kayak.com.

Well, There's no website that will ALWAYS be the "cheapest". That's why you have to shop around. Try to be flexible on your dates and times. If you can drive a short distance to a "less" busy airport, that might help save some money. Try to book your flight early am or late pm, that can sometimes save money. Weekdays are usually cheaper than weekends. Don't limit your search to only the "well-known" travel sites, most are owned by the same company -which mean not much difference in the price. So,be sure to check other travel sites otherwise you might miss out on a great deal. Think of these travel sites like grocery stores, they all "sell" the same thing. So, why pay more for the same flight those other guys are selling?
