Walk me through the airport experience?
I'm going to Orlando in three days, from Omaha, Nebraska, and I have a connecting flight in Detroit. If you could be so kind as to tell me in dumb terms what exactly to do when I get to the airport to the point where I sit down on the plane, ready for flight. What do I do when I land in Detroit? Do I just go straight to the gate or do I have to check in anywhere? Also, I plan on having a small carry-on bag, a guitar case and I plan on checking another bag. Will they make me check my guitar case, or can I bring that on the plane with me? Or, if I can, would I have to sacrifice my carry-on bag? Walk me through the process here. First time I've ever flown, I'm scared I'll mess up.

here goes. go in. wait about 15-20 minutes for check in baggage (i say take the one suitcase to check in, if you take the guitar case, they'll prolly mess it up somehow...) check in will be near the front doors probably, then go through security...depending on how long the line is it'll probably be a 20-30 minute wait, if your brown skinned, then you'll probably get randomly selected like i always do lol. get to the airport 1hr early or 1:30 hours early. Then, go to your gate and wait for the plane to begin boarding. Get on the plane, put your carry on luggage above you on the the thingy-ma-bobber. When you land in Detroit, go straight to your gate if your luggage is going straight to Orlando, if your luggage is landing Detroit as well, go get it from baggage claim then go to your gate. When leaving the airport in Orlando, get your luggage from baggage claim, go to the security checkpoint, get in your taxi/car/limo and go where you need to. hope that helps! cheers.

On a connecting flight the checked luggage is usually looked after by the airline. First check to make sure this is the case, I will assume it is the case. When you get off of the first leg in Detroit find out the gate where your connecting flight can be boarded and proceed to that gate. Once you're in the airport there should be no need for passing a security check again. I would suggest you check your guitar case because it won't fit under the seat or in the overhead storage. Don't be afraid to ask attendants for information, that's what they are there to do. Good Luck.
