Is less than 50 mins good for a connection to Internatinl flight ok at O'Hare, chicago?
My parents are traveling to India from Omaha via American Airlines. They have a connection to international flight at Chicago, O'Hare airport. But the duration between these two flights are just 55 mins. Is that ok time to make it to their flight? They are old and are taking wheelchair assistance.

It might be but doubtful for wheelchair travelers. The wheelchair service at ORD is not always waiting at the arrival gate. Also, ORD has 5 terminals. Fast travel can be done on the automated robot shuttle. There are elevators at each terminal for easy wheelchair access. Finally, if all tickets were booked with the same carrier, they have determined that there is enough time. If not, it may be a bad experience especially if the Omaha > ORD flight is delayed. For additional access information contact the Ground Transportation 24-hour Land Traffic Control Center at (773) 686-8040 or DOA Security at (773) 686-2658

I wouldn't chance it. O'Hare is a huge airport and getting from one terminal to another can take a lot of time. They also have to consider whether or not they need to go through any type of Customs clearance. However, if by wheelchair assistance you mean they'll ride one of the little "golf carts", then it may be possible. Still doesn't allow much time for any possible delays in the flight from Omaha.

No way. Take flight delays under considerations too.

No. 50 minutes would be cutting it too close, especially if they are in wheelchairs.

This will be very difficult because the O'Hare International area is farther away from the domestic flight area (a short cab or shuttle ride). Your parents should contact O'Hare and get specific details on what services are available to seniors and the disabled with regards to getting to their connecting flight on time. O'Hare airport is enormous and is easy to get lost in. My advice is to be as prepared as possible, know where your going, and don't make security checks take any longer than necessary. Good luck!

It sounds like a lot of time, but it really isnt. Becasue after they land in Chicago they still have to go to Terminal 5 to go to Air India (if thats what they are flying on) If they arent taking air india and instead are taking America Airlines then they would have more then enough time. The people who push them around in the wheelchair will also try and get them to there destionation faster, so thats always a good thing! It all basically depends on how many other people are in line at the check out counter. I work at Ohare. So dont worry they will be ok! :)

You don't have to worry about getting from the domestic Arrivals terminal to the International terminal for departure. International departures by domestic airlines are typically handled in the domestic terminals at O'Hare. That said, 55 minutes is cutting it very close, especially since your parents are in wheelchairs. I'd contact the airline and let them know what the deal is. They should be okay but it's better to be safe. Also O'Hare is known for delays so be especially cautious, particularly if the first flight is on a regional jet and not a mainline jet.
