I'm a permanent US resident and plan to travel by plane soon, Does any1 know the paper works I should bring?
I'm actually going to have a couple of connecting flights Omaha-Denver-Vancouver-Beijing. What I'm worried about is crossing the US border for the flight to Vancouver ( Canada). I'm only going to stay in the airport to connect to another flight. Am I allow to do that with my permanent residence paper works from the US? Also, it is my first time flying internationally by myself. I've flown with my family before, but the only airport we stopped at were within the US. It would be nice if you also can drop some advice for flying long trips alone.

You need an ID, your passport and a residence card. It shouldn't be an issue really. You can transit in most airports without legally entering the country of that airport.

As others said , you need your green card and your passport ( from your home country.) You do not need a visa for Canada. I have never flown that far either...hope you have a great trip.

Carry your resident card as well as your passport. Also, because of your status you may need a visa to enter another country. I'm not sure but you should cover all your bases. You can call the airline that you are flying with and see what documents you need to travel out of the country based on your status. Have fun on your trip!

First of all, which country was your passport issued? You need a Tourist Visa to enter China. If you have a non-U.S. passport the Chinese consulate only issues single visas valid for two months with durations of only 30 days. The consulate fee is $30. In order to apply, you need to have the following: your passport (you must have 6 months validity remaining and at least 1 blank visa page). The Visa Application Form (which you can download from www.mychinavisa.com), a passport size picture, flight itinerary, hotel reservation or place that you'll be staying, and consulate fee. As for travel into Vancouver, and returning to the United States, you will need to have that passport and your resident alien (green card) card with you. Hope this helps!
